Ok so everyone in the UK I’ll know that the new £1 coins that are being rolled out are apparently counterfeit proof.
Anyway today I read a story about how someone had received change from a store, and within this change was an alleged fake coin. Word for word quotes from the article follows.
“completely different” in size
“It is heavier, the Queen’s head is more to the left, the edge is more rounded, it doesn’t have a hologram and there is no detail on the head of the it”
Maybe I’m wrong here, but hasn’t it done it’s job? It hasn’t been correctly counterfeited? If a regular layman can spot it being a fake straight away, then I’m sorry, this is a total non story.
